The Billiard Hall, West Bromwich – Review by HungryOwl
On January 6, 2020 by HungryOwlThe Billiard Hall is a Weatherspoons Pub. So from a food point of view you know what to expect.
This old building has been lovingly converted into a well spaced out pub/restaurant. Which even on Monday lunchtime had a fair amount of customers eat and drinking. We ordered three coffees (which are refillable) and three meals. Lamb Shank with veg and mash – this was cooked to perfection and the meat fell off the bone. My only criticism was that the dish was swimming in gravy, so at the beginning of the meal every time the diner tried to obtain a forkful of food gravy spilled onto the table. Fish and Chips were out of stock, so the diner had to make a quick swap in food choices and went for the Bangers and Mash. This person is very fussy about their food, but said that everything was ‘ok’ believe me this may sound like praise but from this person it is as good as you going to get. I wasn’t feeling hungry and ordered the small portion of Scampi and Chips. It was only five pieces of Scampi, but with the fries it was enough for lunch. Everything was cooked correctly. My one concern was why the staff needed to wear body cams???? Seriously is this place that rough that the staff have to be protected in this way???? |
