Coffee Shop in Dunelm, Worcester – Review By HungryOwl
On April 5, 2018 by HungryOwlNormally I wouldn’t review a cafe or coffee shop – but I felt that I had to warn people about this one.
I went to Dunelm at Blackpole in Worcester on Sunday morning. The store advertised it was open from 10:30am and only once I got there did I realize this was 30 minutes for browsing and the tills open at 11am.
What an excellent excuse I thought for a coffee and slice of something sweet. There were 2 tables occupied when I arrived and an elderly gentleman being served by a friendly young waitress. Another waitress appeared with a sullen face and snapped at me asking what I wanted. I ordered a large latte and a slice of Bakewell tart.
These were duly slammed down on the counter and the money demanded with a growl. I paid in cash and requested a tray – this was met with a glare and very large sigh, before she reached under the counter and passed me the empty tray, before shouting “next” to get the next customer’s attention, leaving me to put my own drink and cake on the tray.
As I walked across the cafe I noticed that most of the tables were dirty with cup and crumbs – clearly the staff from Saturday evening had not cleaned the tables before leaving the night before.
Disgruntled I sat down and wiped the table with one of my own wet wipes.
The Bakewell Tart was rock hard and dry as anything to be found in the Sahara. The coffee was so bitter that even after 3 sugars (I normally only have 1) it was still undrinkable.
This was a truly horrid experience of bad customer service and poor quality refreshments.
