Food Festival Gloucester – 2017
On August 12, 2017 by HungryOwlThe food festival in Gloucester Quays is getting bigger and better each year. It starting to be a must date in your diary.
It is a friendly family affair which is FREE – yes I did say FREE!
We spent the morning investigating the food stalls on the main square and met lots of passionate informative producers. We shopped and now three weeks later we have enjoyed out produce that we bought, so we thought we would share with you a small selection of our favourites.
La Maison des Saucissons – these are makers of lovely french salami. I chose the Canard (duck) and FattyCat predictably the Chilli. 2 for £10. They were perfect to dice onto a salad or add to cheese on toast.
Wiltshire Chilli farm – makers of chilli sauces and pastes. 3 for £10 (approx). We chose the Cranberry Kick, Fireside and Winter Sauce. It was nice to a choice of heat levels and a range of \’jam\’ like options and sauces.
Capsicana Latin Flavour – They were selling amazing Latin American flavours. The packets of mixed herbs and spices are used to make curry like dishes were idea served with Nachos. The guy on the stall was an American, Zak Woodhouse he was Mr Exuberance himself. These little packets of gorgeousness were a steel at £1 each.
And finally….HalfPenny Green Vineyard – A local producer who has been building a reputation for the last 30 years. You can also visit the vineyard and experience their fabulous shop in Bobbington, Staffordshire.
I must also add a little mention to places that have been in Gloucester Quays for a long time and are excellent eateries:
Cafe Corretto – An Italian owner Coffee shop which not only servers the best coffee, but also does lovely sandwiches and cakes. In true Italian style they are also licensed to sell alcohol.
Dr Fosters Bar – a lovely bar on the quay’s edge which also sells fabulous food and a wide range of drinks from one of the old warehouse buildings.
