Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw – Review by HungryOwl
On August 5, 2019 by HungryOwlThe latest of the Fast & Furious franchise hit the cinema this week (4th August 2019) and as a fan I had pre-booked my seat a few weeks ago.
This time there is no Vin Diesel of the rest of the crew, just Hobbs (The Rock) and Shaw (Jason Statham), who are joined by new faces including Roman Reigns, who disappointingly had the smallest role possible and I don’t think even had any lines to say.
There is lots of fighting in this movie including a Samoan battle chants from the Hobbs’ tribe.
Its a predictable story of baddy getting too big for his boots, damsel in distress and two heroes who hate/love each other.
What is missing is the cars and the need for speed that we have seen in the previous movies – you can tell that the direction has changed and emphasis is now on the fighting – I suppose this was to be expected when the directors are The Rock (x-WWE) and Statham.
There is lots of gloss and glamour that you’d expect in this type of movie, but it is missing heart and passion.
