La Casa del Demone, Turino – Review by HungryOwl
On May 24, 2019 by HungryOwlTripAdvisor recommended this Las Casa del Demone which was tucked away down a small street. It recommended that we book too and certainly from our experience of a Thursday evening in May you do need to book.
To be honest we decided to go to look at the quirky decor more than the food and it was with fingers crossed that the food would be OK.
So lets start with the decor…..
The whole restaurant is pained in black and dark red to give it a feeling of being a crypt. There are skeletons hanging on the walls, with goat skull and other weird and wonderful creepy things including pictures which changed as you walked passed them from a friendly face to vampire.
Our table was glass with an open coffin underneath showing half a skeleton. One of the tables was a screen showing Dracula’s tomb stone. The chairs had cut out crosses on them.
Finally there was a pentagram painted on the floor with ‘demonic’ scripts around it.
If your offended or scared by the ‘black side’ then this isn’t a place for you – if you have a sense of humour and theatre then proceed inside.
It’s all very well having such a a wealth of scenery I here you say but what about the food and service.
Unfortunately, the waitress wasn’t a vampire or demon – but she was very friendly and offered very good advice on which of the local wines to enjoy with the steaks.
We skipped a started and went straight to the mains. We both ordered steaks and fries – however I ordered the Sirlion and FattyCat had a Rump – both were cooked perfectly mine medium and FattyCat’s Medium/Rare. Both had been rested and didn’t leak on the plate. ( I hate seeings steaks bleed on the plate). I was stunned to see that I was given 2 steaks as part of meal.
Dessert was Tirimasu – which was dreamy and the meal was ended with a Lavazza coffee. (Lavazza are based in Turino)
