Swirly Joes, Worcester – Review by HungryOwl.
On November 12, 2017 by HungryOwlSwirly Joes is one of two new Ice Cream / Dessert eateries in Worcester.
It is rustically decorated and I am not convince it works in this property as it gave a cold and dark feeling. The waitress was welcoming and friendly as we walked in and showed us to a table in the far corner of the empty restaurant; she also didn’t bat an eyelid when we asked to move to sit by the window.
The process of ordering is that you have a menu to peruse and then you go to the counter to order, at this point you can amend your dish by selecting other ice creams, that they claim are Italian Gelato style.
On this occasion my friend and I ordered coffees and a basic dish. The food took nearly 30 mins to arrive and considering we were there alone it was shocking.
Finally the lemon crepe and vanilla ice cream and the waffle with bananas, toffee sauce and vanilla ice cream arrived. The much anticipated desserts were disappointing to the eye. The massive waffle with the crown of bananas was pretty, the flat small crepe was served on an over sized plate making it look even more pathetic and my friend said had not tint at all of lemon…..but what really looked pathetic was the egg cup sized tin cup of vanilla ice cream that was frozen so deep that it was as hard as concrete. There’s a note here too, the images show the vanilla ice cream as a Mr Whippy style, but what we received was hard bright yellow tub style ice cream – it was neither Swirly or Gelato style.
The coffee was also disappointing. My friend had a cappuccino and I had a latte -we agreed that our coffees lacked the flavour of coffee.
Despite the prices being reasonably, the food was not up to standard or expectation.
