The Castle – Droitwich – Review by HungryOwl
On April 3, 2018 by HungryOwlWanting to get the Easter Weekend off to holiday feel, FattyCat and I decided to go out for dinner on Thursday 29th March.
There was an offer on 2-4-1 on burgers. FattyCat ordered the Double Flame-Grilled Cheese and Bacon Burger, which was served with fries and coleslaw. I ordered the All American Chicken Burger with Bacon and Cheese, this was also served with fries and coleslaw. We had a side order of Onion Rings. To accompany the food we had two pints of Carling, one with a dash of lemonade.
Not only was the burgers on offer, but the Carling was too.
The food looked good and tasted fabulous. My chicken burger was tasty and crispy with plenty of cheese and bacon. The chips were cooked perfectly – hot and crispy on the outside with a fluffy inside. The onion rings were likewise, cooked to order and lovely.
FattyCat was more than impressed with this tower of food – honestly, I think he had to dislocate his jaw to eat it. However, the burger was devoured gleefully and this accompanied with comments that, ‘Miller and Carter should come here and taste this” along with, “Now this is how you make a burger!”\
Given the diabolical experience of the afore mentioned establishment, The Castle, by comparison was incredible. This isn’t a place trying to pretend to be anything other that what it is. It’s a pub that shows footy and serves great food that people want to eat for a sensible price. What more could you want?
I was looking forward to a pud – but to be absolutely honest I couldn’t have eaten even one After Dinner mint.
The staff were attentive and polite despite being very busy, they looked like they genuinely cared about the customer experience which was a welcome sight. The Gluttons will definitely be back for more.
