HoneyBee, Doverdale – Review by HungryOwl
On May 29, 2017 by HungryOwlThe Honey Bee has a reputation in the surrounding area for serving good food in ample portions.
Certainly, if you decide to go for the Mighty Man Mixed Grill (minimum of 32oz of meat) or the 24oz Rump steak or even the pound of lamb chops – you will need a massive appetite. But there are more ‘normal’ portion sizes too; the 8oz Fillet steak for example.
As a rule the food comes out of the kitchen in a relatively quick time and it is what is – this is not the place to expect food served all fancy like on Masterchef – it traditional pub grub served traditionally. The steaks are usually cooked perfectly and are tasty and tender – but this time the steak on FattyCat’s Mixed Grill was tough as old boot. Clearly overcooked as it was blackened on the outside and no shade on pink on the inside.
I enjoyed my seafood platter and I swapped garden peas for mushy peas. Plus I had room for an ice cream after.
