Movida, Alghero, Sardinia – review by HungryOwl
On June 11, 2018 by HungryOwlWe booked a holiday to Sardinia, in the north west beach resort of Alghero. It’s a quaint old town with a marina, with an overflow of modern buildings stretching out along the seafront and soft white sandy beach. The hotel was booked half board and to be honest after three nights of atrocious food we walked into the new town and had a Macdonalds.
The following night we decided to take a look at the eateries in the old town. There were so many to choose from and yet none gripped us enough to take a seat. Then we saw a cute little cat and stopped to give him a fuss. As we decided to move on, he meowed at us and started to walk towards the city wall, he paused and meowed again. It was as if he was saying ‘follow me’. Hey who were we to argue.
He lead us to a restaurant which had a patio overlooking the marina and mountains. The menu had fabulous local dishes and lots of fish; but we decided to order steak and chips.
The steak was perfectly cooked and melted in the mouth. I shared a small piece with the cat, who was grateful and decided it was time for a tummy tickle too as payment for his introduction to this lovely restaurant.
Then dessert – well in Italy it could only be Tiramisu. It was non-alcoholic, but it was still superb. Light, creamy, sweet and definitely tasted of coffee.
We ordered a local red wine to accompany the meal and this was very much like a Merlot and a very reasonable price. Total bill was 75 Euros including the service charge.
They don’t have a website, but you can see more on their Facebook page.
Molto grazie Senor Gatto
